BBI is sponsoring a “Viruses and Vaccines Seminar Series,” a set of monthly presentations by scientists highlighting their research in epidemiology, genomics, public health, and vaccine development. The sessions are held on the third Tuesday from 9am to 10am (Pacific Time). Anyone interested in participating should email bbi-events@uw.edu or visit the BBI website.

  • On April 19th, UW Medicine’s Dr. David Veesler, an associate professor of biochemistry and investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI), will present. Subsequent presenters include:
  • Dr. Marion Pepper, associate professor and interim chair of the UW Medicine Department of Immunology (May 17)
  • Dr. Jesse Bloom, professor in the Basic Sciences Division and Professor in the Herbold Computational Biology Program at the Fred Hutch and also an HHMI investigator (June 21)
  • Dr. Hanna Oltean, molecular epidemiology program supervisor at Washington State Department of Health (July 19)

The seminar series launched on March 15 with a presentation on by Dr. Trevor Bedford, professor of biostatistics, bioinformatics and epidemiology program and a professor in the Herbold Computational Biology Program at the Fred Hutch.
