BBI will be part of a major development approved recently by the UW Board of Regents – an 11-story building in the Portage Bay Crossing area on the west side the UW campus.

In addition to BBI, occupants of the building will include the UW’s Clean Energy Institute and the Institute for Protein Design. The overall facility is expected to total 350,000 square feet of rentable square feet of lab, office, collaboration, and retail space.

“This development represents a significant milestone in our institute’s history,” said BBI Scientific Director Dr. Jay Shendure. “I am especially excited about the potential for even closer collaboration among our scientists and researchers, as well as bringing them together with our administrative team. Sharing the space with our colleagues at the Institute for Protein Design is an added bonus.”
